Blue Butterflies
I’ve been painting for
the better part of 30 years. Throughout my growth as an artist, I have worked
to develop my own style. I have experimented with many techniques. My fascination with color and its possibilities is
the foundation of my studies.
I don’t concentrate on recognizable images to begin with. I may have a particular subject in mind or the memory of a dream. Often times,
I’m attempting to render an unconquerable feeling, which assists me in
releasing it.
Using
primary colors allows the paint to mix naturally and using a combination of
brushes, palette knives, paper towels and anything else I can get my hands on,
I create texture. I add collage if the piece calls for it. The texture and
color serve as a path for the imagery. The paintings are abstract
expressionistic. Viewers inevitably glimpse images which originate from their
own experience.
